Giving to JLC

  • Are you a former student willing to offer advice to current JLC students?

  • We are currently developing the alumni mentoring scheme. Get in touch with  if you think you can help.

Keep In Touch!

  • We always like to know how you are getting on. You are the best source of information we have about the nature of the current course, training or employment which you are experiencing.
  • Please do tell us! Email information to The more you tell us the better we can prepare current students who may be considering the same course of action which you decided.
  • We also realise that, though we try our hardest, we may be able to improve further the advice we give and the systems which we operate.
  • Now that you have left the College you may be able to reflect on your College experience and suggest ways in which we can make improvements which will benefit current students.
Financial Help For College Students
  • You will remember from your time in Scunthorpe that we have many students whose families have very restricted financial circumstances. Currently well over 10% of the College's student population qualify for some form of financial support. The total sums available to these students from the government funds and from the local education authorities are very restricted.
  • This is why the College Governors set up the Bill Martin Student Fund at John Leggott College. It is a registered charity and exists to provide financial help to those current and former full-time students in serious need.
  • The Bill Martin Fund currently has a limited financial base and so can make only a small number of grants and loans each year. If you are able to help the Fund raise money we will be very grateful
Work Placements
  • You will know how valuable work experience of any kind can be to students who are still trying to make up their mind.
  • If you reach a position in your company/organisation where you are able to influence decision-making and you feel that you could offer a useful work placement to one of our students, please get in touch
  • Some of our students are prepared to travel across the UK or go abroad if the opportunity is provided.
